Google’s first ever release of the Android operating system, officially called Android® Go, is now available to download today. As a matter of fact, a new version of the phone is now available on the Play Store, and it can be purchased in just one click. This latest move is a big step forward for both manufacturers, as well as the rest of us.
It’s been over two years since we’ve seen an update of the android mobile operating system, and this latest development certainly brings back some of that feel and originality. Of course, you’d have to wait for all of that to come true though because Google has finally made it official, which means most people will only get access to the OS in the future.
Google first announced its plans for an early 2021 release of the operating system, and while there are plenty of other devices and apps coming out with updated versions, this is definitely a pretty significant announcement. In addition to these apps, Google also offers other services like Netflix+, Google Duo and Google Meet that can also be used to meet new people and make connections between multiple businesses.
Google does offer a bunch of third party app developers for their service so we can see Android users can use services from third parties for free, but the real focus of this article will be all the features baked into the Google platform. So, here we go, we’ll list all the main platforms on Android that you might want to take advantage of if you’re going to be paying for something via the Google Play store. We’ll begin by taking you through each platform, including how to set up an account, and finishing with Android 12 and why you should probably consider getting one of it instead of another OS.
Android 12: A Brief History of Android
Android was released in 2008 as Google’s own operating system for smartphones, and since then, many of its functionality has improved. For instance, the ability to switch apps and save and restore searches was introduced in Android 2.3, more than five years ago. Nowadays, you can scroll down pages without using Chrome or Safari, change the wallpaper of your Home Screen, and much more. Google’s Other Operating Systems
Google Play doesn’t currently provide an option for iOS users, but this could change with any of the other major operating systems on the market. Google Pixel 5 vs OnePlus Nord: Which is right for you
This part of the article should answer one of the many questions whether or not OnePlus’ latest tablet, the OnePlus 3, is a perfect choice. Because of numerous reasons, OnePlus decided to release the device with Android 11 rather than upgrade with Android 11.
First, we’ll look at the various computing specs of both OnePlus and Google’s current flagship tablet, the Pixel 5, and compare them with their midrange alternative, the OnePlus Nord, to find out which one truly appeals to the masses. Let’s do that by first comparing and contrasting the average specs of both of them.
Google’s Snapdragon 865 is an entry level tablet featuring a Qualcomm® Snapdragon XR1 processor. Oppo’s Ampere architecture powers the OnePlus 3’s Snapdragon 755G. Both of these specs have eight cores, which means they can comfortably handle tasks that require multiple calculations and operations simultaneously. On the contrary, OnePlus’s Snapdragon 875 can only support single core features such as handwriting recognition, face unlock, and touch controls, making it a complete niche OS. These specifications are fairly consistent across all generations of the OnePlus tablet, and it seems that Android 11 should make a big difference in terms of performance with Android 11.
On paper, Android 11 looks identical to Android 10, and the operating system has no noticeable differences from the last generation. However, Android 11, unlike Android 10, has a few newer features, including a new Material Design UI, new hardware components, and a higher memory bandwidth. Overall, Android 11 looks very similar to Android 10, although there are a few minor changes in terms of hardware. But, in our tests, we found little value in either operating system.
All in all, the above information should lead us to decide which OS will be the optimal choice for you. If you still haven’t quite gotten the hang of Android 11, we recommend downloading Android 11 and trying it out for yourself to see exactly which operating system works the best for you. Regardless of whether or not your specific taste of Android allows for Java 11, Android 11 is a good place to start. Note: the version mentioned above is limited to Android 11, but if you can find the way to a smooth installation process, you can switch the default OS.
Google’s New Camera Features
There are no limits with camera technology when it comes to improving the user experience, and this latest release of Android adds several features including gesture controls, advanced imaging, and AI image processing. Those three things are particularly important to smartphones, and the results are impressive.
One of the biggest improvements is gesture and voice controls for selfies. You can also control the camera settings from within your Android app, including adjusting aperture and shutter speed. Plus, you can hold and drag objects to edit photos, rotate them, or even zoom in on them. Simply swipe over pictures, click to enlarge them, etc. All of that’s powered by machine learning and it’s a great addition to smartphone photography. Also, there are several new gestures that you can use to control cameras, like clicking a picture from afar, zooming in on a distant friend, and panning a photo up or down. Not long after that you can control auto shots, slow motion shooting, and HDR recording.
Let’s move on to the main feature, which is AI image processing. This includes many possibilities, including object detection and image enhancement (using computer vision), portrait mode, image stabilization (with SmartRes technology), image coloring (using convolutional networks), and facial features (using neural nets). Image resolution and color space enhancements are possible, too. What’s more, you can even customize the algorithm to match your preferences. An example of a popular application that uses this technology is the Selfie camera from K-pop group BTS.
Overall, we can say that with a solid balance of features, it all comes together at a tremendous degree of power to give Google a significant edge in smartphone photography. That being said, the platform’s biggest strength, though, lies with its massive portfolio of applications. Even Android 11 cannot compete, given its narrow focus. At launch, Android 11 is already more impressive in terms of functionality and quality than Android 12 in terms of both.
